Eyeliner

DermatechMD proudly serves Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, NC and surrounding areas

Eyeliner / lid enhancement is the use of color between the lashes. This can give the appearance of fuller, thicker lashes. Color built up on to the lid can give a more dramatic look. The convenience of permanent eyeliner should not be underestimated. Permanent eyeliner can make your lashes appear thicker even when you are not wearing mascarra.  Eyeliner defines and enhances the beauty of the eyes.

Eyeliner Pre Care

Do not wear mascara to your appointment, especially waterproof mascara.  Do not wear contact lenses or be sure to bring your eyeglasses.  If you wear fake eyelashes/eyelash extensions they will need to be removed prior to eyeliner procedures.  Do not have lashes dyed within two weeks of permanent cosmetics. If you have glaucoma you will need a written release from your eye doctor before the procedure can be done.

Eyeliner After Care

Eyes may be swollen and tender for a few days.  This is normal and will resolve quickly.  Apply an ice bag on the eyes shortly after procedure (10 minutes on and 10 minutes off).  Try sleeping somewhat propped up on your back.  Avoid food high in sodium for a few days, as this can increase puffiness around eyes.

Keep the area of pigmentation lightly moist using a Q-tip with the vaseline given to you, 2-3 times a day for 5-7 days.

For 1 week avoid: Chlorine pools, retin-A or glycolic acids, jacuzzi's or saunas, terry towels, and hot, steamy, long showers.  Avoid aloe and vitamin E products.  Avoid too much Vaseline.  Only a thin, light coat needs to be applied.

Good hand washing is a must after eyeliner procedures. After 5-7 days mascara use can be resumed. We recommend purchasing a new mascara to minimize the possibility of infection.
