BOTOX
What is BOTOX® Cosmetic?
BOTOX Cosmetic is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in people 18 to 65 years of age for a short period of time BOTOX Cosmetic is administered by a healthcare professional as a simple, nonsurgical treatment that is injected directly into the muscles between the brows. It works by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This reduces muscle activity that causes moderate to severe lines to form between the brows. Individual results may vary.

When will I see results from a BOTOX Cosmetic treatment?
Within days, you may see a marked improvement in the moderate-to-severe frown lines between your brows. Lines continue to improve for up to 30 days, and results can last for up to 4 months. Individual results may vary.
Is treatment with BOTOX Cosmetic painful?
Discomfort is usually minimal and brief.. The entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes. Most patients are in and out of the physician’s office without downtime following BOTOX Cosmetic treatment.
Side effects associated with the injection include localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding/bruising.
How long does BOTOX Cosmetic last?
Visible results have been shown to last up to 4 months. Your own results may vary – be sure to talk to your healthcare provider about what you can expect and when to schedule your next appointment.
Will I still be able to make facial expressions?
Although the results are visible, a treatment with BOTOX Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA) will not radically change your facial appearance or make you look as if you’ve “had work done.” The muscle activity that causes frown lines between the brows is temporarily reduced, so you can still frown or look surprised without the wrinkles and creases between your brows.
What will happen to the moderate to severe frown lines between my brows if I choose not to continue treatments?
If you do not continue treatments, the moderate-to-severe frown lines between your brows will gradually return to the way they looked before treatment.
Is BOTOX Cosmetic expensive?
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the average cost of BOTOX Cosmetic is approximately $400. Please ask your physician or health care provider for more information as pricing may vary.
Hyperhidrosis
Hyperhidrosis is the medical term for severe sweating. Patients with hyperhidrosis may sweat up to four or five times more than normal, far exceeding what is needed to regulate body temperature.
What is severe primary axillary hyperhidrosis and what causes it?
Many Americans have severe primary axillary hyperhidrosis, better known as severe underarm sweating. Severe underarm sweating may be exacerbated by stress, emotion or exercise, but often occurs spontaneously. The precise mechanism that triggers symptoms is uncertain. Individuals with severe underarm sweating may find it can disrupt their daily lives. Patients often go to great lengths to cope with symptoms, such as changing clothing several times a day to conceal underarm sweat stains.
How is severe underarm sweating treated?
A number of different treatments and products are available to help people with severe underarm sweating. BOTOX (onabotulinumtoxinA) injection is a minimally invasive treatment approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2004 to treat the symptoms of severe underarm sweating (severe primary axillary hyperhidrosis) when medicines used on the skin do not work well enough in people 18 years and older. The effects of treatment are temporary, lasting approximately 6.7 months.
Before & After Botox
Botox After Care
If necessary, dab at (but do not rub) injection sites. You may experience some bruising at these injection sites. You may cover these with make-up. Following Botox injections, “SCRUNCH” the targeted muscles several times for the rest of the day. This helps the Botox get into the affected muscles.
Do not workout or do strenuous activity for the remainder of the day. Do not lay down for 4 to 6 hours after your Botox treatment. Most people begin to see results within 2-3 days, however, it is not unusual for it to take a week to 10 days. Do not expect to see results immediately following injection.
If you continue to have function in the muscle after 10 days, contact our office to schedule an appointment. Dermatech Inc. is not responsible for the follow-up treatment after 10 days.
The Botox effect should last 6 to 8 weeks, however, this is per the individual. Generally, the more you have Botox, the longer you can go between treatments as the affected muscles begin to atrophy. To maintain, you should schedule another treatment when you first notice a return of muscle function. If you wait until you have full return of the function, your results may be sub-optimal.
